Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma had a dream to be a professional actress when she was just six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy which offers classes for part-time students. At the age of ten she was involved and played the leading role in a number of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for first time in 1999. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The film was also one of the top-rated films in 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three young stars. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a feature Film. She was later recognized five times in recognition of her part in the film.
